There is something about stormy weather that always makes me want to put on dark colors and use gray makeup. I absolutely love the rain and it just feels so romantic wearing gray eye shadow. I wore this look during the day but if you don’t typically wear a lot of makeup, this would make a really great night look as well. Here are the colors I used.
I picked up this eye shadow pallet at Forever 21 on clearance for somewhere around the $5 mark. They have some really great pallets for pretty inexpensive prices like this one or this one. I used the light gray, champagne, silver, medium gray and dark gray colors for this look.
Start with a foundation ready face.
Pick up some of the silver and put it just on the lower lids.
Next use the medium gray and sweep it into the crease.
Grab the champagne color and use it to finish off the top of the lid, under the arch of your brow.
Use the darkest gray color to make a triangle shape on the outer corner of your eye. Don’t go too far into the center of the lid.
Using the medium gray again, put that on the center of the lid, blending into the dark gray as well. This creates a bit of an ombre effect with the dark gray in the corner, medium gray in the center of the lid, and the silver on the inner part.
To finish off the ombre effect, grab the lightest gray color (it is lighter than the silver) and put that on the very inner corner on the eyes, on both the top and bottom.
Go back in with the medium gray and put that in the center of the bottom lid.
Lastly, using the darkest gray one last time, use that on the outer corner of the eye on the bottom lid. Now you’ve created a matching ombre effect for the bottom lid as well.
With your favorite black liner, line the top of your eye.
Without waiting too long, take a flat brush and smudge the eyeliner up a little bit. This softens the line and blends it to a soft finish. Waiting to long will let the liner dry and make it hard to smudge. So do one eye at a time to make sure your liner doesn’t dry in place too quickly. Smudge it so that it is thinker toward the outer corner and thinner toward the inner corner.
Then line the waterline with that same black liner.
Lastly, curl your lashes and add mascara! I finished the look with a light pink blush and nude/pink lip color. The eyes are the star of this look, so I didn’t want to take away from it with a bright blush or too dark a lip. I guess that’s how I feel comfortable wearing it during the day. Darker lips and blush would make it more suitable for the night.
I hoped you like my first beauty tutorial. I give props to all those beauty bloggers out there because doing your makeup is one thing, but photographing it is a whole other story. What usually takes me a few minutes turned into a hour long process having to stop and take pictures after every step! Mix that with the fact that my husband was making me laugh each time I took a picture of just my eyes. I ended up with some crazy looking eye pictures that I will save for another day!
