Happy Monday everyone! I don’t know about you but March marks an extremely busy season for me in both my work and personal life. At work I have student appointments from the time I walk in to the time I leave. March also marks dance practices for Easter! My dance troupe also created a blog to keep us up to date on all Easter happenings but I thought I would share it because it may be encouraging to others. Click here to see it. You can also see a video on that blog how Easter turn out last year! I’m so happy to be apart of it again.
But with all that craziness comes the need for some easy ideas for looking my best without spending a lot of time. I came up with this way of curling my hair using three tube socks and sleeping on them overnight to give my hair curls without ever heating up a curling iron. Here we go…
Take three tube socks, preferably from your husbands stash just so that he now has one sock without a match.
Part off the top section of your hair.
Roll the hair around the tube sock until you reach the roots. Make sure all of your ends get tucked in there. If you need to use a little hair spray, giving a little spritz before you roll up your hair will work great. My hair tends to hold the curl without any hair spray before rolling.
Then tie it off in a knot. Just one knot should hold all night.
Then part the back of your hair into two sections and repeat the rolling and tying off.
That’s all the prep work. Now go to sleep! You may have to adjust where you tie the knots just so that it is comfortable to sleep in.
The next morning you just untie all of the knots and unroll your hair.
Separate out all of the curls.
Flip your head over like the rock star you are and give it a good shake and spray with hair spray.
And that’s it. The curls are big and loose and not perfect but I love it! Using a tube sock makes for big curls. If you want tighter curls you can use thin strips of fabric instead. It takes me a whole 10 minutes to roll them up at night and 5 minutes to unroll and spray them in the morning. 15 total minutes to curl my hair… umm yes! I’ll take that any day.
Not only does it give great volume but it lasts all day. If your curls fall out at all (which I’m sure they will to some extent) it will just look like big waves. So this is one of my go to hair styles when I want something that makes me feel good without taking hours to get ready. Perfect for my busy and long days.
Anyone else have a crazy busy March like me?

Thanks! Yes, since the socks are soft they aren’t too bad to sleep in. Giving your hair a break from heat could really help!

That’s the great thing. You can try it out on your hair to see if it works with your hair type without worrying about damaging it at all.

Does it work on wet hair or only dry?

I have only tried this on dry hair. If I were to do it with wet hair, my hair would not dry overnight (it is too thick), but if you have thinner hair it may dry and work. Let me know if you try it with wet hair!

These curls look awesome! Did you just roll your hair up dry or do you usually do it when it’s damp?

Wow! What a great idea!! Thinking of trying this. My hair is shorter and I’m trying to grow it out, but my curling irons are just damaging it and not helping it grow at all! This seems like a good alternative for using heat tools!
Do you think it would work as well on shorter hair? Mine is just below my shoulders.
